Get to know me!
My name is Samuel Franklin Cronkhite and I was born and raised right here in northern Michigan . I grew up 11 miles from here in Cadillac with a brother and three sisters. My wife Janet grew up here in Manton and this is where we raise our kids. We also have three beautiful grandchildren. The kids and grandkids are the love of our lives and we are very proud to call them ours!
I received my education at the Wexford Missaukee Career Tech Center where I learned a trade in machine work, fabricating and welding.
I have spent over 27 years in the industry and the last 17 plus years running my own small business, All Ways Welding.
Some of you folks have seen me play music in the park which I enjoy very much! I've been playing guitar for longer then I can remember. We spent a lot of time at church where my Mom and Dad played music and us kids were always involved.
Giving back to the community has always been a part of my life. I am a Lions Club member, the President of the Manton Area Chamber of Commerce , and I am a Mason with Cadillac Clam Lake Lodge #331. I am an advisory board member at the Wexford County Career Tech Center in the welding and fabrication program which I support wholeheartedly. I served as a commissioner and am now the current Mayor of Manton.
As part of the team in the city office, we have rebuilt our infrastructure and put forth good effort to help our citizens keep up on maintenance with free dump days, yard waste pick up and grants for repainting homes, while maintaining a fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers. Our streets and parks are looking fantastic, we are working toward new ordinances that will further create jobs and opportunities for our citizens, friends and neighbors.
I truly am proud to be your Mayor and greatly appreciate your support.
